On September 8th, 2010 (aka the best day of my life), I carried the sign I'd been hanging in my heart for a year to the House of Blues in Anaheim and stood in the very front row at the Justin Nozuka concert.
It read: "Justin, I know every word. Please let me sing with you!" I held it high and smiled immensely, filled with the joy that only his unique music can bring.
A few minutes later, he said, "Aw, this girl says she can sing! Can she come up here?" The crowd started screaming and next thing I knew, the security guard was leading me onstage, where I flew up and shook his hand.
JN: What's your name?
Me: Joni!!!!!
JN: It's so nice to meet you Joni, what's your favorite song?
ME: "Swan in the Water", can we please sing it?
JN: It's later on the set list, but how about you try this one with me, do you think you can do that?
ME: Yes! Thank you!!
JN: Alright girl, let's do this!!!
Then we sang, and I danced and kissed him :) And he told me after the show that I have a beautiful scat style and vocal quality, and that I should never give up on perusing my dreams as a singer-songwriter. :) LML!
I love you Justin, thank you for everything that you are. You inspire me daily.
New review from Coffee City Music Lounge: "There was one particularly odd/amazing moment. Before one of the songs, a fan held a sign saying she knew the lyrics and could sing along to any song. That sounded like a challenge and Justin brought the girl on stage and tested her singing/lyrical skills. It was on a song called “Stand Up And Fight For Now” which is an older song that was updated and transformed into the title track of Justin’s sophomore album, “You I Wind Land and Sea”. While on stage, the girl was having a blast; jumping, dancing, and having the night of her life. Justin was really cool about the whole thing. As you can see in the videos, the audience was really excited for her, and the whole thing was amazing to watch!!!!"
